Over the years I have had to change mermaid sculptures because the audience would have children as part of family entertainment. I have tried shielding only to have the hands cut off in the field because a female member of a committee thought she, the mermaid was pinching her nipples!
But now my mermaid 'the catch' which has a fish float net bra may have missed a sale because the possible client wants to see 'Boobs'. Well I figure if somebody wants to pay big bucks to see them then I will sculpt some nude mermaid! I personally prefer to see them in there full glory anyhow.
So although for commercial jobs for those family venues I will give those customers what they feel comfortable with and for my gallery work I will do what I want. I am not selling out any more than I have always done as an art hooker, but as you can see from my last mermaid, I will continue to have design decisions as part of my work. If flying fabric adds to the movement and feel then I will use that; but it will be my decision.
